INTRODUCTION
Kunstencentrum BELGIE profiles itself as an international arts centre with a young, diverse and challenging program of cultural activities. Ranging from dance, theatre and music concerts to video, film, exhibitions and performances, kunstencentrum BELGIE captures an international artistic dynamic and functions as an ideal transit zone for new talent. Relying on a vast international and local network of creative people and organisations it is able to keep the pace of new artistic movements and emerging scenes. In addition it proposes debates, literature and poetry, productions of its own, cutting edge music and film festivals and innovative multimedia (open circuit-)projects. BELGIE emphasizes on new (co) production work with a preference for young artists and innovative companies.
Kunstencentrum BELGIE also offers artistic workshops and 'courses' at beginners and advanced levels (e.g. dance, theatre, video, photography, music, painting...). It has several workplaces at its disposal for anyone who wishes to develop his/her artistic talents, which often leads to concrete presentations or projects in the arts centre.

Beside a renovated industrial building (former factories of heating systems and metalwork, Burgemeester Bollenstraat 54 in the city of Hasselt) which comprises four polyvalent halls for concerts, theatre or film screenings, offices and a cultural café, the art centre occupies for production work and special events an historic building, named Open Circuit 'Huis Hoste' and Pand Koloniale Waren' (Koningin Astridlaan 81-85).
